Using Tags in IPM Insights
Intelligent Performance Management (IPM) integrates directly into your EPM applications to provide automated predictions, data analysis and insight into anomalies or patterns which may otherwise go unnoticed. In the June 2024 EPM patch, Oracle released new Tags functionality to IPM, which allows users to tag each other in insights and apply hashtags which can then be used to filter the insights later.
To recap briefly, there are 3 types of IPM insight available:
- Forecast Variance & Bias Insights – Reveals potential hidden bias in forecasts submitted by planners by analysing past data.
- Prediction Insights – Analyses variances between predicted scenarios such as forecasts and computer-generated projections.
- Anomaly Insights – Identifies inconsistency in historic actuals by highlighting outlier values.
See my other blog here for more information on configuring IPM insights: https://lydia-maksoud-epm.blogspot.com/2022/06/introducing-ipm-insights.html
Since the June 2024 patch, there is now an extra card in the IPM cluster called Tags, which is where administrators create and manage available tags.
There are two ways to utilised tags within IPM insights:
1. Use the comment box to tag an insight, using the #
2. Use the @ in a comment to mention another user
Some of the benefits of the tags functionality are:
- Mentioning other users allows them to focus on only those insights which require their attention in IPM
- Users can filter to view only those insights they’ve been tagged/mentioned in, using a “My Insights” filter
- Hashtags can be used as custom filters (e.g. #FinanceReview)
- Discussions can then be focused around specific data insights which have been tagged
As explained, this functionality requires some administrator configuration – this can either be done by an in-house EPM admin, or via our friendly Brovanture support desk.
