UKOUG24 Recap!
The UKOUG Discover 2024 Conference held on 1st-3rd December in Birmingham was a great success yet again, solidifying the UKOUG as the standout annual event for Oracle users in the UK. Oracle users, implementation partners and product management joined together to share knowledge and explore new features, making for a fantastic conference! Here I’ll share some of my highlights.
Monday 2nd December
The conference kicked off with the keynote, presented by Oracle with representation from both Oracle Customer Success and Applications unlimited, demonstrating their commitment to apps unlimited, along with a strong focus on AI functionality.
Andreea Vasiliu continued the AI theme, detailing the enhancements to EPM AI functionality which are coming soon (safe harbour), including the ability to create summaries for IPM insights and link them directly into Narrative reports, with Oracle AI providing the most suitable chart for review.
Brovanture had several sessions on the Monday, covering a range of topics including integrating Oracle ERP Fusion with Planning, Financial Close and Account Recs, nurturing the next generation of consultants and how to elevate your close process with a move from HFM to FCC.
We also hosted an interactive Multi EPM Product Panel, featuring Nick Murray from Avon UK, Brovanture ACE’s Lydia & Sarah, Oracle’s Michel Schoolenaar (Director EPM Product Management) and Guillaume Slee as host.
Monday finished up with a networking event, giving everyone the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and friends alike.
Tuesday 3rd December
The high-quality content continued Tuesday with Dan Gagnon giving us a whirlwind demo of how to implement Oracle out of the box Financials template in an hour (well… 45 minutes), demonstrating that the basic app setup is not as complex as people may think.
Then it was Guillaume’s turn to represent Brovanture, with his presentation on Advancements in Essbase: Federated Partitions and ADW Integration – Long live Essbase! This was a new topic for me, so it was great to learn something new.
Finally, I presented with my colleague Anam on IPM Insights: Crystal Balling through Time. It was encouraging to have a few questions in the room, with a number customers keen to set up IPM in their own applications.
The conference wrapped up with a closing keynote from Ms Bonita Norris, who is the youngest person to reach both the summit of Mount Everest, and the North Pole. Ms Norris shared her inspiring story of pushing past the mental limits we set ourselves and how this can be applied to every day working life – a true inspiration to us all.
We can’t wait to see what the UKOUG team have in up their
sleeves for 2025!
